Unleashed Dog Trainers and Academy Guides!
If you are passionate about dogs, exploring in nature and positive reinforcement dog training, you have found your calling!
Unleashed is an R+ Dog Day School and Hiking program with a built-in training academy.
Education, enrichment and outdoor recreation are an important part of our philosophy and through your role as a Trainer and Academy Guide, you will support our pups in our Montessori Dog Day School called The Academy through positive reinforcement—helping the dogs develop solid foundational skills, which will help them become confident, happy dogs for both life in the city and in the wilderness.
We are hiring for one full time position or two part time positions:
Academy Guides and Trainers facilitate education and enrichment for our dogs and puppies in our facility and out in the world through positive reinforcement, supervised play and 1x1 Training sessions. You will also go on field trips with The Academy pups and Hikers.
What we’re looking for:
- A Certified R+ Dog Trainer with a passion for teaching dogs life skills in a group environment and 1x1, meeting their individual needs while also working with our team of Trainers. We work together to support our dogs (and support and coach their humans as well) to fill their dogs mental, social and physical cups for a whole wellness approach for their best quality of life.
- For those that are not a certified Trainer; An experienced professional with previous dog walking and/or dog handling and/or R+ dog training experience and willingness to learn more. You have an interest in potentially pursuing a career as a dog trainer.
- Understanding of dog body language and behaviour science and a desire to learn more about setting our dogs up for success through positive reinforcement
- For insurance purposes, Drivers (for an Adventure Guide position listed below) are 25 years or older with a valid drivers license, a clean driving record, and a driver’s abstract. Must be comfortable driving a company vehicle and navigating city driving.
- Must be available for 2 to 5 shifts Monday to Friday for at least 10 to 25 hours/week.
- Unleashed’s hours of operation are 8:20 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- You have a love of the great outdoors—rain or shine, it’s adventure time!
- You are professional and dependable, have a positive attitude and are a team player. The ideal candidate is flexible, reliable and can think on their feet.
What you can expect from us:
- A competitive wage for the skill level and experience you bring to our company. An interest in continued learning is essential on your part as an Unleashed Guide.
- Certified Dog Trainers, and Experienced R+ Academy Guide candidates have a starting wage in the range of $20-23/hour
- Apprentice level candidates have a starting wage of $19/hour
- Daily outdoor adventures with dogs that you get to coach, bond and, yes, cuddle with.
- A supportive and caring team of dedicated canine wellness advocators. We hold weekly meetings as one element of our team-based approach is developing the best practices for each of the dogs in our care. We work together to create enriching experiences for our clients.

- Team members interested in pursuing a career as a professional dog trainer will earn your required hours for the CPDT-KA certification while you work. You can look forward to support from Unleashed to achieve this certification.

Adventure Guides is a driving position where you lead our Adventure Hikes and also work with the dogs and puppies at our facility. Using one of our company vehicles, you will guide our dogs on daily field trips to local beaches, parks or forests. This gives the dogs the opportunity to play, learn and grow with their friends both indoors at our facility and outdoors in nature.
